Design Canada, our fairytale

Locomotive wins other recognitions for Design Canada at Numix, which rewards the best digital projects in the industry. This is a 12th win for this pro bono project and another great reward for the entire team.

The web platform is an extension of the documentary Design Canada, which recounts the decisive role design played in creating Canada's visual identity in the early 1960s.

Greg Durell, a partner at Hulse & Durell, is behind this film launched in the summer of 2018. Very quickly, the documentary has aroused a craze as much with aficionado of the genre as with designers around the world. In addition to being the recipient of numerous awards, Design Canada has been named #1 on iTunes documentary charts.

Design Canada had already won a dozen design and digital communications awards:

  • Numix Prize / Cultural Promotion-Numix
  • Grand Prix / Educational-Applied Arts
  • Grand Prix / Documentary-Boomerang
  • Grand Prix / Craftsman-Boomerang
  • Awards / Art and culture-Boomerang
  • Site Of The Year / Nominee-Awwwards
  • Site Of The Month-Awwwards
  • Site Of The Day-Awwwards
  • Mobile Excellence-Awwwards
  • Website Of The Month-CSS Design Awards
  • Website Of The Day-CSS Design Awards
  • Webpicks-Communication Arts

The Design Canada project was another opportunity for Locomotive to shine outside Quebec and rally on a subject that we are passionate about.

In fact, it was not the first time the agency had been working with Hulse & Durell. Together, we have collaborated on many Olympic sports projects including Rugby Canada, Volleyball Canada and U SPORTS.

We thank all our talented colleagues who have worked on this project:
